Results of the 4th Annual Ames Silversmithing Hickory Classic

September 28, 2015

The 4th Annual Ames Silversmithing Hickory Classic was blessed by bright, sunny skies, a gentle breeze and a record 78 players! Nearly half of those participating were first time hickory players but with so many enthusiastic comments, there is little doubt this will not be their last Classic!

At the conclusion of play, 4 players were tied for the championship lead with a score of 75- Gary Youngberg, his son, Kirk Youngberg, Kirk Watson and Jim Brousard. After a 5 hole card back, Jim Brousard was declared the eventual champion.

A wonderful lunch of traditional fish and chips followed the event as players relived the good and bad shots of the day. One of the first timers even had a hole-in-one, his first ever!

Other flight winners, also determined by card backs, were- 2nd flight, Bud Nichol- 82, 3rd flight, Dean Townsend- 88 and 4th flight, Clayton Copple- 92.

The 5th Annual Ames Silversmithing Hickory Classic is tentatively scheduled for one of the later Sundays in September. Please keep an eye out for the date and hope to see you there!
