2021 Southern Hickory Four Ball Championship

April 15, 2021 - April 17, 2021
Highland Park Golf Course - Birmingham, Alabama

Though it had to be cancelled in 2020, we are all hopeful the 2021 Southern Hickory Four Ball can go forth as it is surely one of the most enjoyable of the great hickory golf tournaments.

The tournament is played on the Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Ala., the event is especially enjoyed for its southern hospitality. This is the second of the major SoHG Order of Merit events on the calendar for 2019-20.

Event host Tad Moore reports that Highland Park Golf Course has gone through some major renovations, including new bent grass greens and all new “Billy Bunkers.”  “These two changes, along with some other subtle course changes, will mean we will have a wonderful course for our event,” Tad says.

“The Southern Hickory is one of the oldest hickory events in the world and one we feel gives players the opportunity to partner with a friend and come and have an enjoyable weekend playing hickory golf together,” Tad says.

Tad had planned to make a format change for 2020 before so many things got shut down. At the 2021 Southern Four Ball he will ask players about his proposed format change. and get feedback for possibly implementing them in 2022.

Tad advises entries be sent as soon as possible. Plans are to have a welcome party/trade show on Thursday night at the clubhouse and a lunch before the first round on Friday, which will be a noon or 1 p.m. shotgun start. Dinner on your own Friday night. The final day, Saturday, will begin with photos at 8:30 a.m. and a tee off at or slightly before 9 a.m.

“After the round there will be food and I hope to have you on your way as soon as possible,” Tad says. “We should play in four hours or less.”

We will post a registration form as soon as available.
